Export your Arc spaces and pinned tabs

Turn Arc’s sidebar — every space, folder and pinned tab — into a bookmarks file Safari, Chrome, Firefox, Edge or Zen can import. It happens in your browser; the file never leaves your computer.

  1. Find the fileIn Finder, press Shift-Command-G, paste ~/Library/Application Support/Arc/ and press Return. On Windows it’s in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\TheBrowserCompany.Arc_…\LocalCache\Local\Arc\.
  2. Drop it on this pageOr click Choose the file. Your browser reads it right here; nothing is uploaded, and you can see every space before you export.
  3. Import it anywhereDownload one bookmarks file with a folder for each space. Every major browser can import it in a couple of clicks.

Where Arc keeps your sidebar

Everything in Arc’s sidebar — spaces, pinned tabs, folders and Favorites — is saved in one file on your computer, StorableSidebar.json. On a Mac it lives here:

~/Library/Application Support/Arc/StorableSidebar.json

The Library folder is hidden, so the quickest way in is Finder’s Go to Folder: press Shift-Command-G, paste the folder path, and press Return. Then drag the file onto this page — Arc can stay open while you do.

What gets exported

  • Every space becomes a folder named after it; untitled spaces are numbered.
  • Pinned tabs and folders keep their order, their nesting and any names you gave them.
  • Favorites — the icons at the top of the sidebar — get a folder of their own.
  • Today tabs, the unpinned ones, are left out unless you switch them on.
  • Easels, notes and Boosts aren’t web pages, so they aren’t bookmarks.

Importing into your new browser

BrowserWhere the import is
SafariFile › Import From › Bookmarks HTML File…
Chrome⋮ › Bookmarks and lists › Import bookmarks and settings
Firefox, ZenBookmarks › Manage Bookmarks › Import and Backup
EdgeSettings › Profiles › Import browser data
BraveBookmarks › Import bookmarks and settings

Everything arrives in one folder called “From Arc”, so it never mixes with bookmarks you already have.

Where to go after Arc

The Browser Company stopped adding features to Arc in 2025 to build Dia, which is why so many people are packing up their sidebars. Zen is the closest thing to Arc’s layout, Dia keeps Arc’s makers but trades the sidebar for AI, and Tabula keeps a sidebar and puts every tab on a canvas behind it, so you can see them all at once. Questions

Is my sidebar uploaded anywhere?

No. Your browser reads the file and builds the bookmarks file on this page; nothing is sent to a server. Once the page has loaded you could switch off Wi-Fi and it would still work.

Why are some of my tabs missing?

Arc archives unpinned tabs after a while, and archived tabs are kept in a different file, so they are not in the sidebar. Everything pinned is included, along with Favorites and — if you switch it on — the Today tabs that were still open.

Does it keep my folders and tab names?

Yes. Each space becomes a folder, folders inside it stay folders in the same order, and a tab you renamed in Arc keeps your name. Tabs in a split view are kept as ordinary bookmarks.

Does it work with Arc on Windows?

Yes — Arc for Windows keeps the same file, in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\TheBrowserCompany.Arc_…\LocalCache\Local\Arc\. Drop it here the same way.

What about my history and saved passwords?

Those aren’t part of the sidebar file. Look in your new browser’s import settings — most can bring in history and passwords from Chromium browsers like Arc directly.
